 In this chapter we see how bishop and another man have a conversation. However this is not a usual conversation as this man is at the same intellectual level as the Bishop. In this conversation the Bishop is being challenged by this man and I dont know if its because he is being challenged but the Bishop is acting cold towards the man which is strange because he didnt even speak to the senator like this and the senator was insulting him right to his face.

 In this chapter we see a written letter that is very realistic and almost makes me forget that this letter was not actually written to a real person. The thing about the letter that impressed me the most was the bototom part of the letter were it said P.S. To me this really shows how much the author is trying to make lit feal as real as it can be. We also get to see things from Madam Baptistine perspective since we have always seen her reactions but we never get to see what she is thinking.

  In this chapter the references that they made were a bit confusing but i just ignored that since a lot of the words used in the story are somewhat confusing. What I did get is that Senator does not believe in some form of an afterlife and instead thinks that that is only for the poor who need religion to give them some hope in life. The Bishop responds by saying that is not really fair to say that because the poor believe in that because they are unable to be materialistic since they do not have the resources to do so. They had a regular conversation without offending each other which is nice to see.

  October 21 Journal If the lottery winnings lost value that would obviously make me sad for a bit but i would get over it. I have lived without that extra money for 15 years i will be fine.

October 20 Journal If I found a lottery ticket that gave me 50 million people I would instatly try to stay quiet about it because as soon as people find out that someone has money they all start showing affections just because of the money. Probaly the first thing that I would do is buy a house for my parents so they dont have to worry about that. Another thing I would do is make sure that all of my and my siblings educations are paid for. I dont know what i would do with the rest of the money but I would try to save it. 

  October 19 Journal When I hear the phrase "go over the line" to me this means to take something too far especially when it comes to jokes. The line varies depending on the person that it is directed to. For some people the line might be sensitive topics in their life like their parents or race maybe. Usually it is easy to tell when someone went too far or when someone crosses the line. Usually the conversation goes quiet and just becomes akward. Too many of those crossing the line jokes and a relationship might become toxic.

 In this Chapter this bishop talks to a man who is all about to money and after litsening to him talk he talks about how he feels and how he disagrees.

In this Chapter the bishop travels and says he will be back. He leaves in order to not confront some bandits who stole from the catherdral. He just talks to them and tells them what he thinks. Thats what I understood from this chapter.

October 16 Journal     When it comes to grades the way this class is being grades is something new to me. In this class its either you did the work and got the credit for it and if you didnt do the work then you don’t get the credit. In the usual classes you’ll get graded by how well you completed an assignment. How well you doing this class depends on the amount of effort you put in because to be honest the assignments are not that hard.I would like to see a preferred the way things are great in this class because it’s basically credit or no credit.

  October 13 Journal I think that as we Get older we begin to stop doing fun activities because we don’t have enough time or because we outgrew those activities. Personally to pass time i sometimes read a book. Most of the time however I just play video games with some friends and to me that is fun. Occasionally I go to the park with my brother and we just mess around there for a bit. These are some of the things i do for fun or to pass the time.

  October 15 Journal Personally I dont really notice the difference between Spring and Summer but thats good because I love that type of weather because I get to wear jeans and t shirts which is what I feel most comfortable in. Fall and winter however are my least favorite seasons because they are colder. Honestly it does not feel like it is time for Halloween but instead more like thanksgiving. At first fall is good because it is warm at first but after some time I start to dislike Fall because it gets too cold.

   1. I think the difference between a sign an a symbol is that a symbol represents something and was made on purpose by someone, but a sign is just indicating something usually without a deeper or hidden meaning. 2.The 3 elements of a symbol are the symbols themselves, the referent(the idea the symbol refers to), and us, the people who observe the symbol. 3. I think words are symbols because it was us who gave them meaning and let them stand for something. We made the words and chose their definitions. 4.One natural sign  that 've seen recently is when people were face masks, this shows that people are being careful and do not want to get Covid. 5. One symbol that I've seen is the United states flag which represent the 50 states since it has 50 stars on it. The 13 stripes also represents the 13 colonies.

 In this chapter we are told how his house looks and we are told that his house is very simple with little ot no decorations. This kinda caught me offgaurd because i assumed since he was a bishop that he would have a nice house. He did have a set of silverware because he said it would be uncomterble to eat with out them. We are also told that he has no locks on his doors so people could easily ask for his help. Thats what i got from this chapter.

 After reading chapter 5, we found out that M.Myriel got little sleep and when he did he slept for a long time. This really stuck out to me because I think i sleep too little but thats partly because when i do sleep its for a long time. We also found out that he had a busy life which was probably not good for him since he got little to no sleep.
